1. Release History

November 6, 2014

Adaptive Print Studio 1.4 rev. 140929 (Update-3) is released.

This version is compatible with:

Sitecore versions 7.0 - 7.5.

Print Studio Center:

Updated version of Print Studio Center applications.

InDesign Server Engine:

Updated version of InDesign Server Engine plugin, for Adobe InDesign CS6 Server.
New version of InDesign Server Engine plugin, for Adobe InDesign CC Server.

Improvements

InDesign Connector:

Ability to pass data to the rendering class.
The Refresh button in the Media panel refreshes not only the tree structure, but also the thumbnails panel.
The reordering buttons are moved to the bottom in both the Libraries and Extensions panels.

Issues resolved

InDesign Connector and InCopy Connector:

Inconsistency with the MAC operating system: OK and Cancel buttons for Plug-in Settings dialog and Log in to Sitecore dialog.
Incorrect usage of the last used language flag, in case the language flag is not available.

InDesign Connector:

The drag and drop copy operations for Print Studio Projects in the Libraries panel are not ensured with content tree auto reloading.
The button Select the corresponding tree item becomes disabled after using it when an image item is selected (instead of the image frame).
The button Select the corresponding tree item in the References panel fails for items saved in the project tree of the Project panel for the first time.
When text items are distributed between pages and there is only one page loaded for editing, the linking of the text frame with drag and drop in the project tree does not work correctly. The result is a collection of frames on the loaded page.
When you select all items on the page which includes grouped items, you are unable to add a new item to the content tree with drag and drop.
Buttons appear active while there is no item selected on References panel, Content panel, and Workbox panel.
Ability for rearranging root folders in the Libraries panel while the order in the plugin’s panel remains the same. The items are rearranged in the Sitecore CMS content tree.
The button Insert a field as a variable can be used with a Content node in the Content panel selected.

InCopy Connector:

Inability to checkout a page for editing when another language than the default display language is selected in the ICC.
Ability to resize and move image items.
Ability to replace content on a page loaded for editing, assigning content items to grouped items directly on the page.

Print Studio Center:

Inability to open a page with Print Studio Editor in case it contains dynamic image item(s) that are not corresponding with the Item Reference and the Item field values.

Issues resolved

InDesign Connector and InCopy Connector:

The language flag icon, in the Project panel remains the same after changing the content language.
Unable to save added/changed connection string through the Plug-in Setting dialog, in case we cancel the next add/edit operation.

InDesign Connector:

In case you save a document in the Project panel, with both selected options Save Master Document and Save All Pages, all ungrouped items of the document are moved to the Sitecore CMS Recycle Bin.
Insert a field as a variable button remains disabled when a template field is selected in the Content panel.
Load the current item button in the Project panel becomes disabled after copying items from other project with drag and drop operation, while Pages/Documents folder is selected in the project tree.
In case you save an APS document from existing project as InDesign document, the locally saved document remains connected with the source with its pages’ IDs.
Duplicating pages that contain grouped items leads to creation of groups with identical group IDs. This results in merging groups between pages in a spread.
Unable to use Select the corresponding tree item operation in case the project tree is collapsed.

InDesign Connector and InCopy Connector:

InDesign Connector:

Deletion of items on the page canvas results in direct deletion in project tree after saving the page item.
Ability to save rescaling of inline image.
Ability to drop text items over image items and vice versa.
Assigning content item to newly created dynamic items via field drop on page.
Improved long names presentation in the Image preview panel of the Media panel.

Other:

Split up of components according to new license model allows installing components separately.
Improved HTML/XML parsing framework.

Deprecated and removed features

Content merge library is not selected any more for the Extensions panel (affects only the new installations).
Text Frame StaticContent and Content Reference template fields are no longer supported. Fields are now Redundant.
Reassigning image items using images from the Workbox panel is no longer supported.

Issues resolved

InDesign Connector and InCopy Connector:

Missing value for the Xml Renderer template attribute causes Adobe crashing after load page for editing operation.
Active / inactive IDC buttons after log out.

InDesign Connector:

Inability to save the changed content of a dynamic text item in case of using the Save button to add the item to the project tree.
Problem with renaming items in the Project panel when an item is selected in the Workbox panel.
Unable to copy and paste dynamic fields before these are saved.
Crash after reassigning text frame that is part of a content flow.
Display name problem after adding a master snippet as a page snippet.
Copied static text frame on the page part of a text flow becomes dynamic with Item Reference value content.
InDesign Crash after losing connection with the target Sitecore CMS.

InCopy Connector:

Able to reassign content item through the IDC when page is checked out in ICC.

InDesign Connector for Mac:

Inability to add new connection strings to the config.ini file under MAC OS X 10.9.

Print Studio Center:

Ability to reassign dynamic image item with a static one.
Differences in the approach for content item assignment to a snippet/snippet items, between IDC and Print Studio Editor.
Undo/redo operations after assigning content item is not work correctly.
Some of the field types supported by IDC are not supported by the Print Studio Editor (their values are not shown by the editor).
Ability for Item Reference assignment to static items.
Wrong message shown for uploading files.

2. Known Issues

The list of known issues in the Adaptive Print Studio module:

InDesign Connector and InCopy Connector:

Problem with reloading pages in case of loading initially a page with higher number. Each attempt to reload the next pages actually loads them again.
In case we assign items to a Sitecore workflow within the same project, while the project item is assigned already, the Workbox content tree behaves incorrectly.
With the Open the project and jump to the current item button there is a suggestion the Master snippets can be loaded in the Project panel which is not correct.

InDesign and InCopy Connector for MAC:

High Resolution images remain unreachable if they are stored somewhere in the network and have Windows path format.

InDesign Connector

Ability to replace an assigned dynamic item with an external static image. This change cannot be saved but is not disallowed.
For a duplicated page containing linked text frames we obtain cyclic dependence between the flow in the source page and the flow in the duplicated page. In order to avoid this cyclic dependence we need to clear the flow names of the text frames in the duplicated page manually. The same relationship (cyclic dependence between the flows) is observed using master snippets with text flow, created (copied) from the same project.
Ability to delete a page loaded for editing from the project tree structure, without any warnings for reloading the document.
Missing warning about unsuccessful rich text transformation after placing rich text field on a page.
Problems with saving changes in a dynamic text frame backward to Sitecore in case of two or more equal dynamic text items added to the page.
Save document operation doesn’t save the changes in text frames content.
Grouping of items belonging to different pages is not supported correctly. In such cases some of the grouped items could be lost or moved to one of the pages.
Searching media files on the root folder level means searching in all sub folders including not shown folders in the tree structure.
Inability to reorder items placed in one InDesign layer and save these changes in the IDC project.
Inability to save content of a note item in case Save lay-out option is unchecked in the Save Item dialog.

InCopy Connector:

Ability to delete item from a page that is checked out in ICC with IDC.
Inability to load all documents from a Documents folder in case they have assigned same master document.

Print Studio Center:

Custom renderer assigned to a text frame is not applied through the Print Studio Editor.
Problems with using display names containing ‘.’ symbol in Print Studio Media Manager. The part of the string after the ‘.’ symbol is not saved without warning.
Not displayed correctly on client computers that use a resolution of less than 1152x864px. The recommended width is 1152px minimum. On screens with a lower resolution, the scroll bar and command buttons are shown in two rows.
Using a complex structure in combination with a very large amount of items, can degrade performance. This can be solved by performing a database, indexes, and links clean-up in Sitecore.
In some cases the conversion of an EPS file does not generate a preview image. This is caused by the thumbnail image data in the EPS file.
